      Genesis

It came from a time and space incomprehensible to the human mind.  The object hadn’t come from any specific place, and it wasn’t going anyplace in particular.  It was about a yard long and looked like an oblong capsule.  Light from the stars reflected from its crinkled surface as it raced along at a speed rivaling light, itself.  In its timeless odyssey among the stars, the entity came like a pinball; pulled, pushed and slung about by the gravitational influences of solar masses and other celestial bodies.  It would have continued on its way through the galaxy except that something got in its way: The Big Blue Marble.
It came in on a shallow trajectory and almost skipped back into space.  But there was just enough drag in the upper atmosphere to draw it down and pull it in.  It didn’t blaze or glow like a meteor because its interior was gaseous and slowed too quickly for heat to build on its surface.  Its outer covering withstood the ravages of the entry until it reached atmosphere, then the outer shell began to slough off in the nighttime sky.
The entity entered oxygenated atmosphere over Huron, Ohio, and continued toward Cleveland.  It didn’t break apart in its decent: rather, it shed its layers until it was reduced to a small waft of warm air that was quickly dissipated by the winds aloft.  The dusty material scattered along a path thirty miles wide and almost sixty miles long.  It landed on vegetation, animals and people.  But nothing was damaged, and no one got sick.
Because of the gaseous nature of the entity, it came undetected by Earth’s elaborate sensing systems.  And no one took notice of the slight dusting on their cars and property the next morning as they got ready for another day’s travails.  They would not know for years to come that something beyond their understanding had been introduced into their society.
     The children had arrived.

The Gathering

(The second book of the "Seeding" trilogy)

The Seeding Chronicles begins when an object speeds in from deep space and dissipates in Earth’s upper atmosphere.  Undetected by the most sophisticated tracking systems because of its gaseous nature, the entity spreads a wide swath of dust-like matter between Huron and Cleveland, Ohio without anyone noticing.  Although there are no adverse effects on plants, animals or humans, it introduces into society something beyond their understanding.
In June of 1957, ten children are born who have extraordinary abilities.  This is a chronicle of six families who are compelled to raise these children, whether in a loving or adversarial manner.

Destiny

(The third book of the "Seeding" trilogy)

After an entity from space dissipates in Earth's upper atmosphere, ten telepathic children are born to six families that either accept their extraordinary abilities or hate and fear them.
When identical twins, Amy and Mandy, are born, their mother, Jan Cornell, discovers their secret and is determined to force them to become normal.  The girls become the troublemakers of the group and are determined to kill Molly, the leader of the Children.
When Genny Merriweather learns that her triplets, Timmy, Tommy and Shirley, are telepaths, she accepts her "freaks" and begins to teach them to keep their secret.
Darly Blackburne finds out that her son, Sam, is a telekinetic after the four-year-old boy forces his father to kill himself as he was about to shoot her.  When she fully realizes his ability to move things with his mind, she coaches him how to "jimmy" slot machines and takes him to Las Vegas to steal a fortune from the mob's casinos.
Baby Olivia Elizebeth "Doe" was abandoned on an old woman's porch and became a ward of the state.  Even though the child was blind, Erlene Echendorf, a girl who volunteered at the hospital, is determined to adopt Olly.  It was only after the old woman, Adel Turvey, promised to pay for the child's upkeep, that the court granted the adoption.  Everything seemed normal until Erlie discovered that Olly could see through her eyes.  Although Erlie had mixed emotions about sharing her eyesight with her child, she soon accepted the situation, and it became a part of their lives.
As Jeffery Turnbull is born, he kills his twin brother in the womb.  His mother, Harriet, doesn't learn of his ability to absorb a person's energy, thereby killing them, or that he is a telepath, until the boy is summoned by, Molly, the leader of the group.
Toby Creston is concerned when her twins, Harold and Molly, seem to cater to each other, which she thought was unusual for such young children.  Her suspicions are confirmed, later, when the children announce that they are telepathic, and that Molly, a Down's syndrome child, is the "boss" of nine other telepathic children.  Ace, her father, is stunned, at first, but eventually accepts Molly as another step in evolution.

(Destiny is about 90% finished and the trilogy should be available sometime in 2023)

The girl, Taffeta Moonrose, is treated like a dog under Charles’ care.  But one day, she finds herself free when Charles has a heart attack.  Now, weak with hunger and on her own, she ventures forth into an unknown, hostile world in a desperate search for food.  After stealing from the town's people all summer, she becomes known as the wild girl of Ashville.

Taffeta Moonrose is born a bastard child and raised in captivity like an animal after her mother is killed.  Suddenly set free when her captor, Charles Willoughby, dies of a heart attack, she is left to fend for herself in a hostile world and begins stealing food from the towns folks.  It is by her cunning and the secluded farm to which she can retreat that allows her to evade capture for so long.
However, when Matt and Toby Claybourne arrive in the area on vacation and learn of the wild girl, Toby becomes determined to find and adopt her.  When they finally do find her and gain her trust, their relationship changes their lives in ways unforeseen.
Desperate for an ally in their quest to adopt Taffeta, the Claybournes seek the help of a police officer, John Hiller.  However, they are not aware that he had raped Taffeta’s mother, Nancy, and is the girl’s biological father.  But the truth is revealed during the first meeting between Hiller and Taffeta.  He is shocked when he realizes that the girl is his daughter, and when Toby accuses him of rape, he panics, pulls his gun and accidently shoots the girl.
Taffeta survives the wound, and the Claybournes are finally granted custody of her.
Hiller is sent to prison but is determined to break out and track down the girl.  In his twisted mind he feels that he has a right to claim her as his daughter, and he is willing to do anything to have her.
Although Taffeta wants to fit in with new life and rules she has never known, there are those who would ostracize her because she is a social misfit.  As she struggles with the restrictions placed on her by society, her naivety makes her easy prey for boys who take advantage of her innocence and abuse her sexually.
Although Matt and Toby do their best to guide Taffeta through her most trying times, they can only hope for the best as their daughter’s life spirals out of control.

"The Angry Spirit of Never Moore" by A. E. Lawrence

COMING SOON

The Angry Spirit of Nevermoore
by
A. E. Lawrence

Prologue

Everette Moore had lived a long and fruitful life.  But it was now his time to die.  However, before he sighed his last breath, he signed a will, giving all his worldly possessions to his good friend, Dr. William Dinston, including his beloved mansion, Ever Moore.
Dr. Dinston, a psychiatrist who operated a small insane asylum, converted Ever Moore into a state-of-the-art institution that treated its inmates with care and respect, contrary to the prevailing Draconian conditions of 1840.  His rein continued for seven years until he was thrown from his horse and killed.
His Operations Director, Frank Little, was not a doctor and was forced to hire a psychiatrist to run the medical aspect of the asylum.
He finally chose Dr. Henry Willison, who had worked at several state asylums.  What Frank didn’t know was that Willison had been fired from two state institutions because he promoted brutality among the staff and inmates.  And at his last position, he resigned rather than face criminal charges for embezzling state funds
From the moment Dr. Willison took over the reins of Ever Moore, the quality of the care of the patients began to deteriorate.  Within the first year of his supervision, Dr. Willison cut the institution’s operational budget by twenty-five percent.  What no one knew was that he was channeling those funds into his own bank account in New York City.
The second year was even worse.  Dr. Willison continued to cut the budget and divert the funds to his own account.  The situation got so bad that Frank Little felt he had no choice but to confront the doctor.  What he didn’t know at the time was that the doctor was making deals with the merchants to deliver less than what was ordered and splitting the difference with him.  However, on the morning Frank was to meet with the doctor, he died under suspicious circumstances, and the authorities were never able to solve the case.
With Little out of the way, Dr. Willison took over the financial duties, as well, and the quality of care at Ever Moore continued to decline.  Employees were fired so new staff could be brought in at lower wages.  And the new hires were usually people who had been fired from state asylums for brutality.  So not only was the quality of care degrading, the patients were subjected to abject cruelty, as well.   After a while, the staff and inmates began calling the place Never Moore because the only way an inmate ever got out was in a pine box.
The treatment at the asylum got so corrupt and brutal that the collective anguish of the inmates of Never Moore radiated out through the stone walls into the night.
As the magnitude of the despair increased, the cries of the tormented began to reverberate through the walls of the old mansion.  The vibrations of the suffering resonated outward until they reached the grave of Phillip Moore.  The agony and pain of the tortured pulsated through the ground and into his casket.  Unable to ignore the summons, the soul of Phillip Moore stirred.  Answering the supplications emanating from the asylum, his spirit rose to seek retribution against those who would defile his beloved Ever Moore.

The Stairway to Never\

By

A. E. Lawrence

Josef Barrington becomes a wealthy man because he takes heed of the voice in the night.  When he obeys the command to build a special stairway in his mansion, he thinks the stairway is another step toward his destiny.  However, it soon becomes apparent that the stairs have become the device of his destruction.
On a trip to Cleveland, Ohio, Peter White is flying his airplane over East Ridgeville when he spots an old, ill-kept mansion.  When he makes inquiries about the property, he learns that it’s known as the Barrington Haunted Castle.  Thinking he might purchase the property, he takes his girlfriend, Claire Whitley, to East Ridgeville to see the realtor.  There, they hear that Josef Barrington had killed his wife and three children almost a hundred years ago and was duly hanged.
Peter and Claire go out to inspect the mansion and discover a strange stairway in the living room.  Although they think of the stairs as just a whim of a crazy old man, they are forced to change their minds one stormy night when the stairway becomes a gateway to the bizarre.
They soon realize that Josef Barrington did not kill his family.  The stairway and what lay beyond were instrumental in their disappearance.  And Peter and Claire are about to meet the same fate.
